Nesta sexta-feira, 4/4, a Polícia Federal prendeu três homens em flagrante pelos crimes de falsificação de sinal público, receptação, captura e comércio ilegal de animais silvestres e maus-tratos. A ação ocorreu em conjunto com o Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (IBAMA).
Na ocasião, policiais federais efetuaram a prisão de dois homens em São Cristóvão, bairro localizado na Zona Norte do Rio, enquanto o terceiro preso foi detido em Nova Iguaçu, na Baixada Fluminense. Um deles seria funcionário do Instituto Estadual do Ambiente (INEA).
Durante a deflagração, mais de 50 pássaros que apresentavam irregularidades foram apreendidos, dentre os quais foram identificados bicudos, pixoxós e trinca-ferros, espécies ameaçadas de extinção. Além disso, duas armas e anilhas com indícios de falsificação também foram apreendidas.
Os animais foram encaminhados ao Centro de Triagem de Animais Silvestres do IBAMA para a realização de exames periciais.
Após a lavratura dos autos de prisão em flagrante, os três homens foram encaminhados ao sistema prisional do estado, onde permanecerão à disposição da Justiça. Eles poderão responder pela prática dos crimes de falsificação de sinal público, receptação, captura e comércio ilegal de animais silvestres e maus-tratos.
